Please check that you have done the following before turning in any APA citations.
For all in-text citations in relation to the reference list:
The author name/organization name/title in the parenthetical citation matches the first word(s) in the corresponding reference exactly.
Every in-text citation matches only ONE reference. Follow guidelines for assistance with references that start with the same name or same name/year, etc.
Spelling of all author names are the same in parenthetical citations and the corresponding reference.
Every publication year in the parenthetical citation matches the publication year in the corresponding reference.
Every reference is cited in the text. Either remove those references that are not cited in the text or cite them in the text somewhere.
Every reference with a single author is cited in the text as a single author. (Smith, 2022)
Every reference with two authors is cited in the text as two authors using an ampersand. (Smith & Jones, 2022)
Every reference with 3 or more authors is cited in the text as the first author’s last name et al. (Smith et al., 2022)
For all in-text citations in general:
Each citation has a comma separating author and year. (Author, year)
Every parenthetical citation containing multiple sources is listed in alphabetical order with each source separated by semicolons. (Jones, 2022; Smith et al., 2022; Zander et al., 2022)
All group authors (organizations/corporations) are written out in full the first time they are cited in the text, then the acronym is used in all subsequent in-text citations. (Environmental Protection Agency, 2022) becomes (EPA, 2022)
The period goes AFTER the parentheses.
