Civic Action Project: Home

CAP explained

What is the Civic Action Project?

The Civic Action Project (CAP) is a service learning project created by the Constitutional Rights Foundation. CAP students identify an issue or problem that matters to them, connect it to public policy, undertake research, and then take “civic actions” to try to effect change on their selected issue/problem. Finally, CAP students bring their research, findings, and civic actions to the public in a manner of their choosing.  Visit crfcap.org for more information!

Objectives

Student Learning Objectives:

  • Students will identify an issue in their community, state, or nation and evaluate the problem through research, recommend an appropriate solution, and take action to address the problem.
  • Students will evaluate the varying interests of stakeholders' needs and negotiate a solution by compromising with those various interests in mind.
  • Students will evaluate how citizens affect change through participation in government in order to promote the public good.
